Quaker
Values and Standards
The beliefs of the Religious
Society of Friends led to the founding of Quaker programs for
the aging, and these beliefs continue to shape the way in which
services are provided.
In serving older people,
Friends strive to:
- Believe that all people have strengths that can be supported
- Respect the dignity of each individual
- Involve participants in decisions about their lives
- Support mutual respect among staff, residents, families
- Create a participative social environment
- Provide individualized, restraint-free health care
- Involve employees in broad areas of decision-making
- Manage finances prudently as not-for-profit organizations
- Believe that later years are full of potential
