Health and Wellness Philosophy

Health care programs at Kendal at Longwood and Crosslands are designed to help you stay well and fit and to maintain your highest level of self-care and independence. Our full continuum of care means that as the years go by, the realities of aging can be faced in a positive way, and not from the viewpoint of illness or disability.  You benefit from a coordinated approach on a consistent, continuing basis provided by a highly qualified, interdisciplinary health care team familiar with you and your individual circumstances.

In keeping with Kendal and Crosslands health care philosophy, you are an active participant in your health care decisions, working together with staff to seek solutions that encompass your total well-being.  The continuing care contract provides for all levels of care, including unlimited long-term care, for the same monthly fees as apartment living. 

Health Care Services

Kendal-Crosslands Communities have never used physical restraints.  We believe that dignity, autonomy and a sense of control become more precious as older adults face limitations and personal losses.  Health Care Services covered by the entry and monthly fees include:

• Annual physical exam, immunizations, and routine heath care and screenings
• Unlimited long term care, not covered by Medicare or supplemental insurance, paid through entry and monthly fees
• Health Center staffed by qualified professionals 24 hours a day
• Geriatric nurse practitioner and social services staff on site
• Medical services, when prescribed by a Community Physician and to the extent not reimbursed by insurance.  Includes visits to Community Physicians and visits to other physicians (when directly referred by Community Physician)
• Physical, speech, occupational, and recreational therapies provided on site*
• Private rooms for permanent residents of the health center
• Limited meal tray delivery to apartments on physician's orders
• Processing of Medicare and supplemental insurance claims
• Certain hospital, medical, surgical costs not covered by your insurance

           * Services available on site, which will be billed to your health insurance
