Within Kendal-Crosslands
Communities there are numerous opportunities for residents to
share skills and talents that they have developed over the course
of their lives, as well as the opportunity to learn new skills.
Resident Committees volunteer in the Health Centers, organize
resident trips, and contribute to the Communities in a myriad
of other ways, thereby enriching the quality of life within the
Communities.
Service on Resident Association Committees
Numerous resident committees furnish social, educational and cultural
programs within Kendal-Crosslands Communities. Many are service
committees providing assistance in the health centers and child
day care centers, providing programming and entertainment, overseeing
and coordinating resident activities, and providing outlets for
cultural and educational experiences. Resident volunteers, who
give of their time and skills to enhance resident life here at
our communities, lead all of the various committees. Both Kendal
at Longwood and Crosslands have over 80 committees functioning,
all of which require resident leadership and participation.
Health Center Volunteers
There are numerous opportunities for residents to volunteer in
the Health Centers at Kendal at Longwood and Crosslands. These
include passing water pitchers, delivering mail, pushing wheelchairs,
reading to residents, and providing hospice services to residents
during end-of-life care. Medical Assistance Companions accompany
residents to provide support on doctor’s appointments and
other medical related trips. These volunteer services are coordinated
through resident led programs, the Activities Departments, and
the Social Services Department.
