Providing for the Present, Preparing for the Future
At Kendal~Crosslands Communities, leadership has the responsibility of providing for the present and preparing for the future. Both are necessary for meeting the needs of residents and staff while securing the ongoing financial strength of the community. Below are listed our Senior Management Team working at the community.
Chief Executive Officer
Phil was named Chief Executive Officer in 2013; prior to that he was Exectuive Director of Crosslands and Cartmel since 1999. He holds a degree in Economics from Swarthmore College and an MBA from Drexel University. Phil is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Chandler Hall, a Kendal affiliate community located in Newtown, PA. He also serves as a member of the Finance Committee of Peace Church Risk Retention Group, a Vermont-based captive liability insurance company owned by KCC and other non-profit long-term care providers. Previously, Phil was a member of the Board of Directors of LeadingAge PA from 2005 – 2015. During 2011 and 2012, Phil served as Chairperson of the board and previously served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.
Chief Operating Officer
Meg joined Kendal~Crosslands Communities in March 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she leads the various operating departments including: Dining Services, Environmental Services, Grounds and Maintenance, and Sales and Marketing functions. Meg has spent her career working with older adults primarily, within positions of leadership, all in the Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) settings. She has held positions at the community and regional level. Prior to joining KCC, Meg held the position of Executive Director at a CCRC in Williamsburg, Virginia and later worked at Duquesne University while completing her Ph.D. Meg holds degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Healthcare Ethics. She currently serves on the Board of the Friends Services for the Aging.
Director of Finance
Ed has been the Director of Finance since 2002. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Finance for another local retirement community for 11 years. He holds a degree in Business from Millersville University and he passed the Certified Public Accountants exam in November of 1988. In addition to his activities at Kendal~Crosslands Communities (KCC), Ed has been engaged in other initiatives. He is the Chair of the Board of Directors of RCHPPA, a self-insurance health care consortium providing health insurance coverage to staff and other dependents of KCC, as well as other long term care providers. He also served on the Garnet Valley School Board for 12 years where he was chair of the finance committee.
Director of Human Resources
Audrey has been the Director of Human Resources since April, 2005. Her previous positions consisted of progressive responsibility and management within the field. Audrey attended the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her degree in Psychology with a Math Minor. She has been very active in her commitment to leadership development within the Kendal organization. She was a member of the inaugural class of the LeadingAge PA Leadership Fellows Program in 2010. Audrey participates annually by assisting with the facilitation and planning of the Kendal Leadership Fellows program which was created to support leaders as they cultivate sustained long-term organizational change in alignment with Kendal values. Previously, she has served on the LeadingAge PA board and was the Co-Chairperson of the Friends Services for the Aging Diversity Committee. Audrey completed the LeadingAge Educator’s Program in August 2016 which is designed to build a pool of expert educators in gaining services skilled at crafting, developing, and facilitating leadership programs within and outside the Kendal organization. Audrey has led the Staff Diversity Committee in support of the Kendal value of encouraging and welcoming all people to the community. Some of the Diversity Committee initiatives included partnerships with Cheyney University, La Communidad Hispana, and an annual toy drive for Tick Tock Child Development Center.
Chief Health Services Officer
Donna has been the Chief Health Services Officer since April 2016. Prior, she served in several leadership and management positions over the past thirty two years as a Nursing Home Administrator, Executive Director, and Vice President of Operations for a Maryland faith-based not-for-profit life plan community organization, Integrace (formerly EMA Episcopal Ministries to the Aging) and Bayleigh Chase (formerly known as William Hill Manor). She holds a degree in Business Administration from Salisbury State University and has completed several local, regional, and national leadership programs. Donna is a 2015 LeadingAge Leadership Academy Fellow. She is a licensed nursing home administrator in PA and MD and holds a certification from AADNS as a QAPI Certified Professional. Previously, Donna was a member of the Talbot County Commission on Aging from 2004 to 2015, a past member of the Continuing Care Advisory Committee of Maryland Department on Aging, and was an active member of LeadingAge, Maryland. Donna has also been involved in a wide range of community service activities in the past prior to relocating to Pennsylvania.
