Moving to Kendal-Crosslands is a little different than moving into a house or apartment outside the Community. There are several steps in the process, and we hope this article will help make it easier to understand.

Joining the Priority List

If you have visited Kendal-Crosslands Communities, and have decided it’s a community where you’d like to live, the first step is to become a member of our Priority List. In order to join the Priority list, you need to fill out an application and submit a priority deposit and processing fee and you will be assigned a number, in order, by application date. (Note: an additional deposit is required if you would also like to join the Priority List for our 50+ communities, Coniston and Cartmel. Please contact the Sales Department for more information).

The Ready List

The second step is to become a member of the Ready List. Our process includes completing our financial application, personal history and health care forms. Once all the forms are completed, you will be scheduled for an Admissions Interview with various staff members. Once accepted for entrance into Kendal-Crosslands, your name will be placed on the Ready List in the order of your Priority List Application date and by the size accommodations you are interested in (see above).

A Word about Home Size and Timing

If you are looking for a cottage or apartment over 1,000 sq. ft., you will need to remain on the Priority list for at least three years before you can join the Ready List. For those looking for smaller cottages and apartments and ready to move, you can begin the Ready List process.

Shaking hands

Joining Our Community

When a cottage or apartment becomes available, accommodations are offered in the order applicants have joined the Priority List. Upon an offer, you will have seven days to accept or decline a cottage or apartment. When you accept an offer, we will collect a $5,000 Unit Commitment Fee and a contract date will be set, usually within 90 days. When you choose your new home, you will meet with our Move-in Coordinator in our Design Studio, to customize your apartment or cottages with the finishes that fit your style. On your contract date, the balance of your entry fee will be due, your monthly fees begin, and your agreement with the community will commence.

Easy Transition – Easy Move

We want you to feel comfortable with every aspect of Kendal-Crosslands Communities, and maybe even start friendships with current residents before you move in. So, we hope you make several visits to the community before you are ready to take the additional steps to becoming a resident. As a result, your move and transition into the community will be even easier- you will already feel at home! Lastly, we’ll provide an abundance of moving resources so your move will be effortless.

After You Join The Community

Joining the community can feel a bit like starting college- you’ll want to settle in, but there is so much to do, and so many friendly people eager to meet you, it can be a little overwhelming. Residents on the Welcome Committee and our staff members are here to help, and before you know it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t move into the community sooner!

With the Priority and Ready List process, it is helpful to keep us informed of your personal timeline. We encourage you to update the Sales and Marketing Department annually and we are happy to answer any questions. For more information about becoming a member of the Priority List, please click here.
