Responsibility in the Greater Community

When the remnants of Hurricane Ida blew through Chester County in early September, gratefully, the residents who live at Kendal~Crosslands Communities and the staff members who work there were safe and secure.  However, quickly they realized their local neighbors were not and felt called to assist.  Area residents in Avondale lost everything from a flood due to the remnants, and The Kennett Area Community Services (KACS) rapidly stepped in to coordinate the relief efforts.

“When we heard our neighbors lost everything, we knew we had to help”, says Lisa Marsilio, Chief Executive Officer

The retirement community partnered with KACS and began a food, cash, and gift card donation drive.  “When we heard our neighbors lost everything, we knew we had to help, and we sent a call out to our residents and staff,” says Lisa Marsilio, Chief Executive Officer.  “The drive we conducted over the past few weeks is our residents and staff living our values of responsibility to the wider community,” says Marsilio.

The community coordinated efforts with KACS and set up a donation drive, and as a result, within one week, they raised 1,400 pounds of food and over $16,000 in cash and gift cards.
